With our church located on the UGA campus, student life is extremely important at Christus Victor. We have many opportunities to get involved in order to fit what is right for you. All of our regular activities, excluding Sunday School and worship, function only during the school year. Summer opportunities are dependent upon the desires and interest of those students who are around for the summer months. Feel free to contact Pastor Michael or any of our student leaders if you have any questions or would like more information about our mission and weekly activities. We hope to see you soon!

Student Fellowship

We gather on Tuesdays at 7pm. We gather for a devotion and activity. Our focus is to help each other grow together in the faith as we live in relationship with each other and God. We want to provide ongoing opportunity for encouraging one another in the faith, struggling together with the questions and challenges we face, and for rejoicing in the gifts God has given us. We also gather each Sunday at 6 pm we meet at church for a meal together. This meal is followed by our Life 173 study. We hope you can join us as we grow in Christ’s victory together!

Life 173

Each Sunday night we gather at 7 pm for Life 173 where we worship God and study His Word. Our goal is to grow in the life God has given us through Jesus Christ. For our current focus check the Life 173 page. Our time together follows a service of the Word utilizing contemporary music with the study as the message.

Bible Studies

In-Depth Bible Study

Our in-depth Bible studies are intended to have a no frills approach as we study God’s Word and reflect on its implications for our faith and life. Fall 2017 we are studying Galatians. We begin September 13 at 8:30 pm.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Every Sunday morning at 9:30 am we meet in the sanctuary for Sunday school before service to grow together as we consider the implications of the all-sufficient Christ.

From Creation to Consummation

From Creation to Consummation is a course that provides an in depth look at the basics of the Christian faith covering the Creation (beginning) to the Consummation (end). This course helps us see that, from beginning to end, God desires us to be his people and rejoice in life in his name. It is ideal for those new to or interested in the Christian faith; for those desiring a refresher on the basic faith and its implications on life; and for those looking to grow in their understanding so that they can better share their faith with others. The course runs ten weeks for an hour and a half each week. The course generally begins in early September and mid-January. Exact times and days are determined based upon the schedules of the participants. Contact Pastor Michael if you are interested in joining a class.

Service

We love to serve! Our projects differ from year to year and semester to semester, but we love to serve. We try to do projects bother locally and abroad. Whether serving at a food bank or a community center, cleaning up and rebuilding after a disaster, or going to another country to partner with a sister congregation, we realize that we are a people anticipating restoration who want to see people have a taste of the wholeness God desires. We encourage personal service, some group projects each semester, our annual fall service retreat, and spring break mission trip. We invite your ideas and participation as we reach out with Christ’s victory! Please contact Ruth Schade with your ideas and interest and visit the outreach page of our website for current opportunities.

Time together

Retreats

Each semester, we attend a student led retreat with colleges and universities from Georgia and neighboring states. In the fall, we travel to a central(ish) location to serve with a local non-profit and enjoy time together with brothers and sisters in Christ. In the spring, we gather for a retreat focused on growth in the faith and in relationship with each other.

Intramural Sports

The Christus Victor Yetis consist of students looking to have some fun while being physically active during the school year! Our teams are open to all students. We would love to have you and your friends join us! We have previously participated in Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Basketball, Indoor Soccer, and are always willing to expand our sporting horizons. Please contact Grant McKown for more information regarding Fall 2017 activities!
